U.S. Air Force #2104 was restored by members of the San Diego Railroad Museum. You can see the unit here
at the Campo depot with its excursion train. Volunteer conductor Don Getz and engineer
Dave Slater are waving, and fireman Randy Houk leans out the cab window. #2104 is an ALCO
MRS-1, and is powered by a V-12 turbo-charged 4-stroke Diesel rated at 1600 HP. Like the
EMD MRS-1's #1809 and #1820,
Alco MRS-1 #2104 has variable gauge trucks which would allow it to be used on wide-gauge
tracks found in North Korea and other parts of the world.
